What's New in TimeControl Version 8.2?
TimeControl and TimeControl Industrial version 8.2 are a major update to the TimeControl 8 family of editions with significant new and enhanced features.
Here is more detail on the new and enhanced features in this version:
Enhanced Timesheet Entry with Create Multiple Timesheets at once
We’ve enhanced the way timesheets are created in the Timesheet Entry module. Now, a user can create multiple timesheets at the same time. This may be of particular interest when a supervisor needs to make multiple timesheets for users where multiple timesheets are missing for a user. In the Create Timesheet screen, you can select multiple timesheets from the Missing Timesheet List or, on the calendar, you can hold down the CTRL key to select multiple timesheet periods.
Enhanced Timesheet Entry with Add Multiple Lines
We’ve added a new function within the Timesheet Entry screen. Now a user can create multiple lines at once. Instead of clicking on Add to add a line, then in that line selecting the project, charge code and rate, using the Multiple Add function displays a wizard to select multiple projects in a dialog window then select multiple charges from those projects. The selected projects and lines are then added into the current timesheet. For users with many lines, this will be a welcome addition.
Enhanced Timesheet Entry with Copy New Lines
We’ve enhanced the Timesheet Entry screen with a new Copy-New-Lines function. This function can be activated with a copy icon on the line and allows the line to be copied immediately rather than having to save the timesheet first, then select the line and select the Copy Line function.
We’ve enhanced the TimeRequest function and the TimeControl Industrial Crew timesheet function to allow TimeRequests to populate a Crew timesheet.
Enhanced Crew Timesheets with Add Multiple Lines
We’ve added a new function within the Crew Timesheet Entry screen. Now, just like we’ve done in the regular timesheet screen, a user can create multiple lines at once. Instead of clicking on Add to add a line, then in that line selecting the project, charge code and rate, using the Multiple Add function displays a wizard to select multiple projects in a dialog window then select multiple charges from those projects and the crew members appropriate to the selection. The selected crew members, projects and lines are then added into the current timesheet. For users with many lines, this will be a welcome addition.
Missing Crew Timesheet Notification
Our automated Missing Timesheet Notification emails are one of the most popular functions in TimeControl. We’ve added the function to TimeControl Industrial so it will work with Crew Timesheets.
Enhanced Integration with Oracle Primavera with Resource Fields
You can now map fields from Oracle Primavera 6 to the TimeControl Resource Table. This includes the ability to link data from Oracle Primavera to TimeControl User Defined fields. In the TimeControl Interface definition, there are now three tabs for the mapping of Primavera fields: the Charge Table, the Project Table and the Resource Table.
Enhanced Integration with Oracle Primavera with Transfer to Actual Overtime fields
You can now defined Rate fields in TimeControl which will be considered during the export to Primavera and be moved to Primavera Actual Overtime fields.
Enhanced Timesheet Posting with User Profile Filters
We’ve enhanced Timesheet posting to allow a filter to be imposed at the User Profile level. This allows administrators who are only responsible for some of the organization to do posting but be restricted to those employee’s timesheets for whom they are responsible.
Enhanced Reporting with Improved Field Selection
When creating new reports, an optional new menu option will display a dialog that allows the user to select fields for the report in a similar manner to what we do in the Drill Down Analyzer. Upon doing so, the report data source is replaced by the field selections that were made. This makes a huge difference in how performant a report is because the SQL that is generated for the data source is much more specific. This feature also allows a much wider selection of TimeControl tables and fields. This feature is expected to evolve in future versions.
In the dialog that is displayed after assignment creation are now listing not only the project ID, but also the project name. Seems like a small change unless you do this all the time in which case, the project name will be a welcome addition to this dialog.
Enhanced TimeRequest Wizard
In the TimeRequest wizard, we now support filters the list of possible employees to choose from by typing in text.
Cascading Extended Rates
Extended Rates now allow for a null value. This lets us implement a very flexible and powerful concept of Cascading Extended Rates.
Report Filters Tab in the Reports Table
We now are including a Filters Tab in the Reports Table which allows an administrator to restrict the possible filters that could be applied to the report in question. For very large deployments which may have hundreds of administrators and hundreds of filter possibilities, this simplifies what the end user is presented with when running a report.
The ability to specify which sections of the application filters appear. Many larger clients have asked for this and it’s a great way to have filters only appear in reports and other areas.
Timesheet entry Go-to
Ability to go directly from one timesheet to another timesheet from the timesheet entry page.
Within the add timesheet dialog you can now elect to copy the start/stop values when creating a new timesheet from an existing one. This can help speed up timesheet entry for some users where their time in and time out are almost always the same.
We’ve added functionality to reporting from the Drill Down Analyzer that allowing Changes to drilldown options to allow drawing a header / exposing the filter details on the report
Enhanced Crew options
Ability to configure which filters are used within the crew timesheets (ability to specify whether crew or employee filters are used)
There’s so much more. Improved error handling, performance increases and useability enhancements across the system.
