HMS Releases TimeControl 6.7
Montreal, April 28, 2014 - HMS Software, the publishers of TimeControl, the world's most flexible timesheet system announced today that it has begun shipping TimeControl and TimeControl Industrial version 6.7. This is a major update to the TimeControl product line with significant enhanced and new functionality.
"Version 6.7 of TimeControl and TimeControl Industrial is a huge advance for the system which we have been working on for almost a year," said Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS. "TimeControl is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and I can't think of a better way to do it than with a release like the one we've just done. Not only have we made a major architectural update, we've added some great new functionality that we think our clients will love."
TimeControl 6.7 includes a wide range of enhancements as well as new functionality. Some of the most notable improvements include:
All New Workflow Engine
We've gone beyond Validation Rules and created an all-new workflow engine. Click to see the full list of TimeControl 6.7 improvements... Now, based on conditions that TimeControl might find in a timesheet that is being released, you can have the system automatically email a supervisor, a project manager or someone you choose. You can have the timesheet automatically post or move along the approval path in the manner you select. You can even execute database commands at a Workflow event which makes this feature stunningly powerful.
Improved On-Boarding Import
HMS has created a new on-boarding import function to better integrate with external HR systems. Now new employees can be loaded into TimeControl in a single function rather than having to populate a number of different tables. The improvement in efficiency is significant.
ActiveX's are no longer required in TimeControl
Earlier versions of TimeControl required ActiveX components to perform certain administrative features. This locked some TimeControl users into using Windows with Internet Explorer. With TimeControl version 6.7, this functionality has now been replaced with multi-browser/multi-device replacements and the result is that all TimeControl users can now use TimeControl from virtually any device, operating system or browser. For clients of TimeControl Industrial, only the Industrial-specific functions such as Crew Timesheet Entry still have any ActiveX requirements in version 6.7.
Line Item Resource
TimeControl's links with Project Management tools has always been one of its most power features. This version of TimeControl improves this yet further by allowing improved granularity in resource management. TimeControl's Line Item Resource allows an employee to fulfill multiple project management roles within the same project by identifying the role for a timesheet item. This allows proper billing, pay and job costing regardless of who is doing the work.
Improved Project Management Link performance
HMS has rewritten its powerful links between TimeControl and Microsoft Project Server, TimeControl and Oracle-Primavera's P6. While doing so, HMS has applied research and development accomplished over the past year to make big improvements in performance. These links are now performing at between 18 and 20 times (That's 1,800% - 2,000%) faster!
Improved Hard Dollar HD PCM Link
HMS has extended its link to the Hard Dollar HD PCM link with enhanced functionality. The link now supports for multiple cost categories, allows timesheet hours to be costed or uncosted when transferred, and more.
TimeControl 6.7 includes improvements in performance, functionality and more in: Resources and Roles, Filters, Missing Timesheet Notification, Manage Scheduled Jobs, Timesheet Release Audit Report, Posting, Scheduler, Manage External Tables, Interface Definition Table and more…
