Microsoft again names HMS Software as a certified partner with dual competencies

HMS Software and Microsoft have renewed their Technology Alliance continuing their 21 year collaboration through 2017

Montreal, May 16, 2016 - HMS Software, the publisher of TimeControl, one of the world's most popular timesheet systems has announced today that it has renewed its technical alliance with Microsoft. This continues a technical partnership between the two firms that started in 1995 and will be the 13th consecutive year in which HMS maintains its certified partner status within the Microsoft Partner Network.

“Our relationship started over 21 years ago,” explains Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software, “when Microsoft asked us to join the newly founded Microsoft Project Solution Partner program”. “The link between the first version of TimeControl and early releases of Microsoft Project started a relationship between HMS and Microsoft which continues to this day.”

HMS Software’s TimeControl timesheet has had an integration with every version of Microsoft Project on the desktop since 1995 and with every version of Microsoft Project Server since it was first launched in 2002.

This year HMS has qualified for two separate Microsoft partner ‘competencies’ for both Application Development and Project and Portfolio Management. To qualify for these programs, HMS provided actual client references demonstrating how TimeControl successfully integrated Microsoft Project and Project Server and how that integration had provided benefits to clients. HMS also had numerous HMS personnel pass Microsoft certification testing. In addition, Microsoft subjected TimeControl to rigorous external 3rd party testing to ensure its compliance with technical and quality standards.

“Keeping our collaboration with Microsoft active is key for HMS to ensure that we properly support their technologies and that we support them on a timely basis,” explains Stephen Eyton-Jones, Director of Technical Services at HMS. “Not only do we need to keep up on the constantly evolving technological platforms but we need to work in advance of new releases from Microsoft to ensure that our clients will be able to work and upgrade unimpeded when they want to upgrade.”

Microsoft technology is used to deliver both TimeControl and TimeControl Online, HMS Software’s in-the-cloud timesheet service. Other technologies used can vary from client to client. Windows Server is the platform for the server, some clients will combine that with Microsoft Project or Project Server, SharePoint or SQL Server

“It has been 21 years so far,” says Vandersluis, “and each year the numerous ties between the firms becomes stronger. Both Microsoft and HMS have benefited from this relationship over the years, collaborating together to ensure we can provide the best possible solutions to both our clients.”

Using HMS Software’s TimeControl with Microsoft technologies allows clients to enhance their business processes to comply with numerous timesheet requirements such as simultaneous project tracking, billing, HR management, payroll, job costing and auditable governance such as R&D tax credits, DCAA or Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

HMS has created a resources portal to help identify which Microsoft technologies can be advantageous when using TimeControl. The portal includes numerous resources including white papers, webcasts, PowerPoint presentations and more. The TimeControl Microsoft Technology Portal can be found at: www.timecontrol.com/use-cases/microsoft-portal.
